Have been trying for several hours to talk to someone in the customer service dept. I left a message, just wondering if they have people to answer when you call?

I tried for over a hour this morning as well. Ended up sending a E-Mail instead. We will see if / How soon they respond to it. I sure hope they are as good of a company as many here say they are. It’s the quality of a company’s customer service that determines if I stay with them going forward or not. I always had excellent customer service for Vexilar so I broke from my usually loyalty rules to give the Marcum a try. I sure hope I don’t regret it. If so someone will get a good deal on a LX-5 and I’ll be back to Vexilar as a loyal customer. I’ll give them the benefit of doubt for now.

Not only open but answered my call right away about what it would cost me to buy a few of their batteries ( to possibly use in someone elses new unit ). I know if I need to buy a replacement battery it will be one from them. By far the best batteries I’ve ever used. I have one in a old unit that is 5 or 6 years old and still charges and last like it did when new. Not sure why they last as good as the do – But they do

They called me back and shipped out the part already no questions asked and no additional expense for me! They were very helpful and quick to troubleshoot the issue.

Vexilar may be open, just aren’t as busy filling orders apparantly

Do we really need to get into a Marcum vs Vexilar peeing match here? Yes… I own an LX5 and I am glad that I do. The cool thing I have always enjoyed about this IDO Fishing Forum is that as a group when someone has a problem or issue…you help each other! We all share information….We fish together! If anyone has a contact a Versa Electronics….then make the call and let them know someone needs help! I would not want to see this forum develop into a place where people get their negative on about products or business owners. That is enough preaching from me.

I agree, and there sure has been a lot of it from some people lately

I guess that is one thing the Internet has created, a place where people can whimper thinking it is going to do them any good.

A sour post started and it still turned out for the good. I think the triger was pulled a little early

    Merry Christmas people

Jon Marshall is an army of one over there at MarCum. I’d jump out a window if I did his job this time of year.

What are you talking about? How is this a peeing match? Just a couple of people venting about bad customer service. Maybe they were thinking that someone on this forum would help them.

And that is exactly what happened! Thanks Joel!! I got a call back after he offered to get ahold of someone for me. I understand they are busy, I originally was just inquiring if it was normal to leave a message or if they had staff that was possibly off today for the holidays.

No wimpering going on here! I am happy with the outcome so far other than the fact I have to pay for my equipment, and when I spend around a grand on two units and have problems with both I would like to talk to a live person and not to a machine!!

I am not conmplaining even though it may sound that way I just wanted some clarification on how to best get ahold of a live person instead of an answering machine. And my original post did what it was intended and a pro staffer was kind enough to give me some assistance!

Thanks again, did not mean to stir another debate

I’m not sure who either of these two comments were directed at. I don’t think either the original poster or my comments were in any way a start of a “Peeing Match” I have read and re-read both of our post and can not see how it was viewed that way. I was just following some advise I received on a earlier post about contacting their customer service to see if they could help me with a issue I had on a new unit. The thing that I’ve always liked about this site is that everyone is free to express their opinions on various topics and there was clean discussion on them. Lately it seems like everyone wants peoples opinions except those who have a differemt one.

I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary here. Long story short… someone asked a question about how MarCum customer service worked, people responded, IDO staff assisted, MarCum responded with the expected calls back and the issues were resolved. Time to go ice fishing before the snow storm hits.

Thanks for the help. I believe that is what both the original poster and I were looking for when we both made our post
