It’s 8:42 in the morning , I have already ice fished or guided 7 days in a row, and I have a day off… and I really am in no hurry to venture out on a rare Saturday off because:

    #1 the roads are icy

#2 when the roads aren’t icy there will be droves of anglers

#3 I really don’t see the point in fishing for fish that it takes 6 to make a meal, already caught 500 or so this ice season and haven’t taken one home to eat, even the 7-9 inchers.

#4 I can’t find my socks and my mommy isn’t here.

#5 None of my Northern spots are producing monsters

#6 The first places I usually hammer the Eyes are still not safe enough even for me >>MR GOTTA BE THE FIRST ONE ON THAT ICE GUY >>>

#7 GREAT I just ran out of excuses so now I have to get layered up and get out there…

YUP I KNOW I’M GETTING OLD BECAUSE I USED TO BE ABLE TO THINK OF ABOUT 100 EXCUSES..

SAFE HOT BITES TO ALL OF YOU

I hear ya. Seems the older I get the colder it gets for me. I’ve yet to get out. I just got my fishing gear together yesterday and may not get out until next weekend? Maybe it’s a time thing for me. Between spending time with the kids (they’d rather be playing games and spending time with their friends than being outside), work and spending time with my fiance and her kids, I’m all out of time for me? I get a few hours here and there to really do what I want to do. But there is also that cold factor. I guess I’m at the point in my life I’d rather be somewhere warm this time of year. Someday…

Oh..Did I say that out loud?

When many of us get older several things happen to change our sporting/fishing pursuits.

For me it was a combination of full time Guiding and freezing my hands too many times. Some mornings my hands (arthritis) swell so bad I cannot make a fist.

After catching hundreds of Walleye/Bass throughout Spring thru Fall I need a break…now it wont take long to recharge my batteries, but hard water just doesn’t appeal to me as it once did..

I get out with a buddy once and a while to set a few tip ups but after selling the snow mobile, otter and auger some years ago…I just enjoy following the Ice guys here on IDO.

Give me a spin rod, jig, and a broad top wingdam and I am happy!

I definitely am getting old I forgot how good a mess of Bluegills taste… my favorite onion dip batter… and super hot oil in a fry pan… and they are delicious… gosh it’s to bad nobody else is home I’ll just have to eat them myself… I couldn’t even wait I’m eating one now LOL… yah old is tough… and you gotta spend time with the kids and lady friend, and Ron I hear you on the guiding and the arthritis … but hey we can still fish.. and these Bluegill filets are way way to good… kinda makes me feel a little younger…

Me to….. getting older and hate being cold. I haven`t ice fished for about 10 years. Last year and this year…. allmost getting an urge to start again.

There is nothing that tastes better then panfish thru the ice. MMMMM I do miss that part.
