1/16oz Slender Spoons tipped with a minnow head is to much for Pool 8 crappies to resist
December 14, 2009 at 5:06 pm #823249Custom Jigs and Spins makes the Ratso, Slender Spoon, and Demon jigs. The Demon jigging spoons have also iced some nice specks.

December 14, 2009 at 10:23 pm #823347I do well with white/pink and glow rat fink’s. I also like to use the samll Hali jiggin spoon with the chain dropper. Tip with minnows or waxies. It just depends on the day.
December 15, 2009 at 1:18 am #823401gill pills, demon jigging spoons, diamond jigs and usually tip with purple, white or chart plastic, spikes or waxies.

That’s why Minnesota cant hook the big one (aka Super bowl)
The plastic is on the hooksDecember 15, 2009 at 2:27 am #823426Lil Cecils fished baitless are yet another option that compliment any crappie hunter’s jig box. I would stick with the purples, pinks, oranges, & yellows or two tone combinations there of
December 15, 2009 at 2:38 am #823432I use the smallest glow in the dark chubby darter they make with a pink crappie nibble on the back hook. This set up smoked the big slabs last year
December 15, 2009 at 6:14 am #823459Thanks guys. I just made a Fleet Farm run and spent $50 on all of the above. I sure hope one of them works. I’m a sucker and can be convinced to buy anything. I have a week and a half off starting on Thursday so I will be spending lots of time on the hard water trying all these new toys. Thanks.
December 15, 2009 at 4:43 pm #823528make sure and keep us posted on how they work!!!
Good luck with your new purchases!!

When the Ratso and Shrimpo’s aren’t working the little cecils are usually next in the line up! I Love those things.
December 15, 2009 at 7:11 pm #823564Never used a lil’ Cecil before… What is the purpose of the little colored plastic(?) ring around the shank of the treble hook? Is it just an attractor or does it serve as some other funtion?
ice proPosts: 2December 16, 2009 at 5:17 pm #823850I think those must be seconds, because the number 4 is not on them
December 17, 2009 at 4:05 pm #824158ya the red ratso with red tail work so good during the day light hours but after dark go to a glowing one that works the best

I’ve never attributed it to anything but an added attractant. The real secret in the Cecils are the microspoons in my opinion. Keep that little blade fluttering & dancing when you tie one on! Very rare occassion will a crappie strike a Cecil dead sticked or working the bait back up throuth the water column. Strikes occur the largest percentage of time when you are working the bait down through the water column or during slight pauses in working the bait downwards because of the spoon action.
December 21, 2009 at 3:43 pm #825183i used the red redtso tyhis weekend and put to waxworms on it omg that worked so good
December 21, 2009 at 8:47 pm #825302Red head / white body ratso tipped with a waxie was the magic combo for my son yesterday – and doom for the trout. The rest of us skunked with other color rats. Reminder to self: buy duplicate colors.
