I live at a 75 acre lake that was locked up completely this morning. Most was solid (but not safe) yesterday, but the main basin froze over last night. I’m near the Lasalle county border, and we received only a couple inches of snow the other day. I’ll check Shabbona this weekend.
I drove by Lake Holiday this afternoon and most, if not all is solid. I have no idea how thick it is though.
I’m on US 30 in Indiana, we fished pockets at 5′ tonight with 4″. But we didn’t get any snow to speak of with the last storm.
We lost most of our ice, due to the rain this weekend. After today, its supposed to get cold again.
Saw three shacks on Shabbona in the no-motor zone. I’m hoping to get out on my lake this weekend.
Walked over and drilled a couple holes yesterday. I had three inches of ice, but it was some of the nastiest you have ever seen. My wife has to work on the 26th, so that will be my first trip (it’s across the road). We should be good and safe by then.
