Which is more sensitive?

So I bought a Thorn Bro’s Power Noodle 24″ for ice fishing. Was told it’s like a really good spring bobber. I haven’t tried it our yet. Hopefully this weekend. But I’m looking at another back up rod and was going to get a St. Croix Preimer Light rod. with spring bobber. So the question is which is more sensitive? The Ct. Croix spring bobber or the Thorn Bro’s Power noodle?

Sorry I have nothing to add to this yet. I just bought the Power noodle after fishing with the Legend for 2 years. So I can’t wait to hear this answer. Although just by playing around with the two inside my house this week I’m going to actually guess the noodle will be as sensitive as the spring bobber, if not more so. ( haven’t fished with it yet, but I have a feeling this is going to be my GO TO rod.)

I bought a power noodle last year and absolutely love it. My st.croix has become my backup. I have caught a few bass and northerns on the st. croix and it has plenty of backbone but I’m not to sure that the power noodle could handle a big fish.

    Power noodle > st. croix

That’s what Thorn Bro’s said was the Noodle was my sensitive and that on bad days you’ll feel bites with the Noodle others can’t. I getting the St.Croix for the back up cuz someone on here was saying when I first started looking the St.Croix hand the back bone to do double duty. So I figured why the heck not.
Just figured someone on here had to have used both and new already so I don’t have to wait and try both myself.

I just got another noodle in the mail today and can only say that the others are back-ups compared to the noodles.

Last year I iced a carp that was figured to weigh between 15 and 18 pounds on a Power Noodle, so if you wonder where the “power” part comes from you have an idea. The noodle part should be self-explanitory.

Its a common saying that you get what you pay for and these Thorne rods exemplify the statement. The rods seem almost electric just holding one…. if you can feel any weight in your hand.

For those who have not tried a Thorne Bros spring, you have missed the boat and most likely a ton of hits. The springs are specially rated for panfish, perch and walleye. I have several rods rigged with the panfish springs [my immediate back-up rods] and seldom use them because the Power Noodle excels so well in showing hits…both down ward and lift hits.

In my book there are two rods available today….the best is any of those custom rods that come from Thorne Bros. The next best has any number of mixed labels on them.

Yup Luke H. Already said I need to get the PanFish Sweetheart too. I just got out ice fishing last winter with the Father in law to be and got hooked so I’m buying all the gear right the first time before the wedding

I’ve had the occasion to fish with a number of the panfish sweethearts and even got in a day with a quiver stick late ice last year. Thorne rods rigged with their springs are a good investment…first hand there as well.

My favorite is the power noodle, hands down.

Not so expensive now was it?

NO it isn’t realy considering the St. Croix isn’t that much cheaper right around 10 bucks less. I might have to do the Panfish sweet heart with a spring instead then. Boy it’s too easy spending money on here.

Everyone has a preference. The spring rod will work good for you if you like the springs. You need to buy what you are comfortable with.

Pat from Thorne, and I sat down and tried to design a rod around an 1/8 oz spoon as its just a bit to heavy for my liking on my 32″ perch sweetheart. Pat is amazing at picking what is going to make the rod to your liking. I told him a few things I wanted, and after a bit of head scratching he had it. Lets just say this hasn’t been done before so it will be interesting. And Pat, if you’re listening this newly designed lineup should be the Spoon Rod lineup.

I have fished with the thorne spring bobbers, power noodle, and st.croix spring bobbers. The power noodle will not have an issue with a fish as long as your reel has a decent drag. The st.croix and thorne spring bobbers are both nice but the noodle I believe has the ability to replace them cause it is an all in one system if you are looking for a sight detection rod. Plus its a glass rod which adds needed durability when you are sanding down a blank that thin.

Looks like the noodle will be the go to, and the other one I get will be a back up. Unless I get another Thorn. Bro for a different application
