How cool do these Lindy Darters look!

I picked up a few of these last month. I thought they looked cool and I loved the loud rattles so I figured I’d give em a try. As with any new lure you don’t know how they’ll work until you see their action. That’s why I was excited to find this video from the ice show.

I couldn’t make it to the show, but did anyone else see these lures down there?

I had no idea they would have such great action. I love the slow fall! Most lures of this type sink way too fast. I have a 3/8oz perch and a 1/4oz glow tied on for the weekend.

I think jigging these right on the outside weed line should be dynamite right at dark?

Cripes………….now I’m gonna get sucked into buying these too!?! If I have a dollar for every new product I bought that caught my eye but didn’t turn out. They do have a sweet action…..hope the fish think so too!

I saw these at GM a couple weeks ago. The price is right considering the Salmo’s are 2 bucks more a piece. BUT, my buddy took these out a couple days ago, and according to him the action is pathetic in comparison to the original chubbys. He did like the idea of the rattle though. But between the action and new color patterns of the salmos, I doubt the 2 bucks will be worth it…

I tend to pick up a nice set of ear plugs with my new baits. This way I don’t have to listen to…

On the contrary to what your buddy said. The booth at the ice fishing show had these 2 products in the tank (original chubby darter vs Lindy darter) and were given the same jigging motions side by side. I am not going to say the Lindy was miles above but it had the same or better jigged movement and a MUCH better fall then the Chubby’s dead sink. I don’t have any afiliation with either company and Lindy had no problem bringing in the compition to test side by side. seemed well worth the $2 to me.

The CHUBBY does not have a dead fall! On the contrary, it does a fantastic vibration from side to side and falls at a very controlled rate. We fished ours in a lake with 19′ of clarity and the falling action is where the hits happen, bass and pike. They love that tight controlled wobble on the fall.

These two products have an entirely different action on the fall. The Chubby is VERY controlled while the Lindy seems very erratic.

I look forward to trying the Lindy to see if the catching abilities are as good as the Chubby, especially at the price point they are being introduced at.

From tank tests and that video posted above I am skeptical on the falling action until I get on the ice and try them.

The rattles are what really set it apart also.

Edit: The trick for us was getting some slack line in the fall, that is when the Chubby shines. If you keep the line tight, it does not have that tight wiggle on the fall. Had to stare down the hole one time to figure out what was working and not working when working the Chubby darter.

Sorry, maybe “deadfall” was the wrong words. It seemed to me that the Lindy Darter had a more struggling minnow type fall but then again the fish should tell you what they want. I have both in my box and will use both, I just wouldn’t write off the Lindy. Not sure why tank water and lake water would make a difference on action, but you should definitely see how your jigging/fishing tendencies look under your hole.

Well I used the Darters for the first time this past weekend and I was pretty impressed. Earlier in the evening they wanted a spoon and a 1/2 minnow, but then I switched back to the Perch Darter and got hammered right away. One thing I noticed was they would hit the spoon soft and the Darter they would just crush. The Perch color was all I ended up using. I had no reason to switch colors as well as it was working. I plan to use it a bunch more before I declare it the best lure ever, but it certainly worked this weekend!

I plan to try some of the brighter/glow colors on a couple of the lakes in the area with poorer water clarity. I think the rattle will shine in these conditions?

    Joe-
How heavy were you jigging? Was it constantly, or just subtle

I used the 3/16oz. I would jig it up about a foot and let it fall and hold it off bottom a few inches. Then once it sat still for a few seconds I’d shake the rattles. It seemed to me when I shook the rattles the fish would show up on the screen. Once I’d jig it again they would hammer it on the fall or right when it stopped moving.

Thanks. I wanted to correct myself, I was using a 1/4oz Lindy Darter not a 3/16oz.
