Lake Zumbro for starters. Good panfish lake in the winter.
Backwaters of the Miss. on the dike road ‘tween Wabasha and Nelson. The ice pros here will send you the right way ! Welcome to IDO !

you can try foster errands park in roch it supposedly has northern and trout. if you don’t want to fish the river you can go up to farbauilt or waterville area. there’s a bunch of lakes to try in that area

Can’t help you with any MN Ice fishing info, (other than, try Rainy Lake, with Rainydaze)but, I live in the Big Sky state, and wonder if you are willing to share any secret spots/techniques? You know, since you dont live here, anymore.

Enjoy the People’s Republic of Minnesota!
P.S. Its supposed to be -28 in SW Montucky tonight.

Hey Walleye_chaser80. I am also semi-new to the area. moved here about 7 months ago. I do know the area fishing well now due to research and fishing twice a week since moving here. mainly mississippi pools 4-7. But anyways after christmas i have mapped out and did research on some good walleye lakes in the metro area and wouldn’t mind some company. Maybe we could talk IDO member (trumar) to join us since he is from rochester also. PM me if your interested.

Welcome to IDO! Sounds like you’re getting some good info. Please let us know if you get on em. No need to give away any secret spots, however it’s always good to hear a success story.

Welcome home. I say that because anyone who loves to icefish should live here anyway. Alittle farther north would have been more ideal. Hey your here right! Good move! I Hope you catch some nice fish.

Hello fellow Rochesterite. Walleyes and Northerns within 25 miles? Not a pretty answer. For walleyes – you may have to travel farther and get to the Miss. River/Pepin. Foster Erend (blocks from my house) has year round stocked trout fishing with tons of stunted sunnies (great time for kids).

Lake Zumbro has good crappies, sunnies along with a good supply of drum and channel cats. There are a number of small reservoirs around town with panfish – but overall size of fish is not worth writing home about. New to my list to hit is Lake Byllesby by Cannon Falls. It may be your answer:

Another is Chester woods/Bear creek. It is just outside of town. Panfish/Bass and channel cats.

Speak up if someone has additional info – I would like to know too.

    thx
