StrikeMaster Solo ,does that answer your question?
To be serious now ,all I have ever owned is StrikeMaster gas augers and I cant wait till I can get the new Solo auger.
This kinda of a Ford /Chevy question ,so get ready for some different opions and you choose which one you want, after all you are the one who will be using it.
November 19, 2009 at 8:14 pm #817085Yup I did the switch last year. Ended up getting a Strikemaster.
November 19, 2009 at 8:15 pm #817086I think that many of the guys here are all about the new Strikemaster Solo and it looks like a great auger. I have had an Eskimo Shark for over 5 years now and it rips through ice like soft butter and has been very reliable. My 2 cents.
November 19, 2009 at 8:34 pm #817100There is a very nice lazer mag for sale on the classified right now. I’ve run one of those for the last 5 years and it has never let me down. It is priced to move too.
November 19, 2009 at 9:07 pm #817112I have the Jiffy STX 2 hp model and I love it. It seems like most augers you see these days have plastic parts galore. I went with the STX 2hp because ti had a metal throttle. I have run her 3 years on the original blades. I just sent them in for the free(plus shipping) sharpening. This auger has run great for me the last 3 years. You will not be disappointed.
November 19, 2009 at 9:52 pm #817119Any ice anglers out there with experience using Craftsman 19.2volt C-3 portable drills to power ice augers? Have heard that numerous adaptors are available and that you can charge the nicad or lithium batteries in your vehicle. Have also heard that the flat-bladed knife heads from old hand augers seem to work the best…one guy claims they cut like a knife thru butter. If I can get away from the weight and fuel mess, might be worth checking into. Anyone tried this?

That’d be mine Lazer mag XpressI’d hate to turn to craigslist. I’d rather give an IDO’er a deal
November 20, 2009 at 3:31 pm #817297It’s hard to give up a reliable product like Strikemaster. I bought my Lazer Mag in 1997 and it still operates like the day I bought it. This auger has always been bulletproof in the worst conditions. However, the new Solo really looks like a great upgrade. Hmmm…

What a great deal. Last year I sold my 3Hp Jiffy and got a strikemaster lazer Mag express like the one your selling. I really wish I would have waited to get a deal like this or could have bought a new Strikemaster Solo!!!! They sure are sweet machines!
ealbrechtPosts: 52November 20, 2009 at 4:45 pm #817332I have owned a Jiffy Model 30, and i have used both the new and the old eskimos, but nothing will ever compare to the Strikemaster Solos. Just sold my lazer mag and can’t wait to go pick the new one up
November 20, 2009 at 11:08 pm #817426We run about all them between the guys I fish with, my Nils Master hands down is the best followed by the Old Lazer, Lazer Mag Express, Jiffy STX, Mag 2000, Eskimo Stingray, Jiffy 30 in that order of best to less than best.
November 21, 2009 at 4:12 am #817467Jiffy, all the way for me. I have fished with just about every auger out there and my Jiffy STX (although heavy) 3hp is faster than any of them and when was the last time you heard of a Jiffy breaking down. My cousin has the Eskimo and it is even heavier than mine. My dad has the Strike Lite and broke the vanes off the bit. I might sell mine and get the new Jiffy just to save some weight.
