What not to miss Custom Jigs & Spins order?

  • #1300574

    Hey guys,

I’m making my first Custom Jigs and Spins order and I was wondering on what are your faves that I should not leave out. What sizes should I be targeting as well? I will mostly be chasing Crappies and Eyes…

    Thanks!

You need some of everything. J/K. I would say ratsos and gill pills. Size depends on what your fishing for. For gills and crappies I prefer 8,10,and 12 depending on the bite and size the fish want.

Get a handful of slender spoons also. I like the smallest one for crappies and gills.

Just a few victoms of the Firetiger pattern- Diamond # 14 from last year. Don’t forget to check out BfishN Tackle and get a cross color representation of Lil Cecils in your “what should I use next” box to loosen the lips of a suspended slab!

Any one know if there will be a stand at the St. Paul ice fishing show for Custom Jigs & Spins? I looked tonight and there not listed yet.

Justin, here are a couple posts that I thought you might be interested in the first thread is about your question what favorite jigs guys use. The second thread is all about what to put all of them little jigs in so you can find what you want when you need it.

I hope all of this information doesn’t overwhelm your brain or your wallet…

    Good luck

Last year on Menomonin I didn’t have to use anything but a ratfink or a ratso. I like to have a variety of colors, glow, white/pink, orange, chartrusee, purple, balck, brown …

Don’t forget to check under their kits for sale. You get some of everything if you go that route. I got the big pack being I’m new to ice fishing and needed to get everything anyway. And yes some things are back ordered. Oh well no ice yet anyway.

    My favorites for crappies:
    Ratso/Shrimpo sizes 6
    Diamond Jig size 10

    Walleyes:
Lightning spoons 1/8 ounce and heavier
    Slender Spoon…Same

The lightning spoons in 1/8 and 1/4 ounce have been killer for me in the last two years on walleyes and perch in stained water.

In clear water the 5/16 and 1/8 ounce slenders have been the bomb on walleyes, perch, splake and crappies. My favorite color in the slender spoon is the silver with blue prism tape or silver with silver prism tape. Any body of water where you find good populations of shiners, cisco or smelt the slenders are really deadly as they do a great job of imitating those silvery bait species.

When it comes to plastics the ratsos in the two largest sizes are my favorites when it comes to big crappies and perch with the pink head white bodied ratso getting the nod more often than not from me, and more importantly, the fish.

    Great baits… great company.

    Fatcat,

You’re waiting on some Demon jigs? I’m a little confused because there isn’t any of them that we are out of. Are you sure you didn’t mean Lil Cecils? Those we are waiting for hooks on from VMC, since we don’t manufacture the Lil Cecils, we don’t have complete control of their production. If I’m wrong and you are waiting on Demons please PM me so I can look into it.I don’t want people thinking orders for CJS take 4 weeks to ship. We ship 99% of the orders within 2 business days of receipt ( barring Holidays, etc.)

Anyways, let me know if I can help with anything, I want to make sure you get what you need.

While you are there, get every color of ring worm and paddle tail and at least a couple colors of all jigs. I also like the mini merts, lighting spoons, and the ice jigs mentioned. You might as well put in one or two big orders a year and save on shipping.

Good point. If you put together an order that hits the $80 mark… shipping is free. When you’re picking out spoons and restocking jigs it just doesn’t take long to get there.

    I believe this deal is offered 365 days a year >>> http://www.customjigs.com
