I just had an ice fishing guide customer tell me he had a duck hunting buddy that had to break through an inch of solid ice somewhere in MN to duck hunt the other day… does anyone have 3 or 4 inchs yet anywhere.. it wouldn’t seem possible with this warm weather but hey I’m packed and ready to go if there is.

I know you are anxious, but please please be safe. We like you. Don’t turn water wings into angel wings. A couple of crappie aren’t worth it.

I really got excited when I was up in Minong puddle jumping ducks on Oct. 12 and woke up to an inch of snow and ice on the edges of the beaver pond. I thought we’d be ice fishing before gun deer season. Not going to happen.

It does not look favorable. Here is the 10 day forcast for the ice box of Minnesota.

I usually can’t get on safe ice until Thanksgiving around my area in central MN, but with all this warm weather I’m guessing it will be the 1st week of Dec before we have walk able ice.

What a life we live … its to darn nice to ice fish so we will have to just open water fish… Hey wait a second ..We only ice fish because the water is frozen LOL.. I guess I just have to grab the boat and get out….
and regarding the safe ice thing .. you can say that a thousand times and it isn’t too many.. but hopefully somebody will post when the first safe ice is ready…

Yes up here in ND we had ice in some of the fields with water. Around shore in some of the pot holes there was an inch of ice. This was all back early October. this weekend we could see it again, but nothing that anyone with out a 4×8 sheet of plywood could fish off of (have done that in the years past and wont do it again). Around here i would not expect to get on ice before 1 December unless it cools off quick.

Well it is after all inching toward mid November and the bottom could fall out of the thermometer any time. I remember trick or treating in 29″ of snow! Crazy world.

Your not alone we have sold 2 Pak Shack 1 person and 2 three person Pak Shacks this week so there are others chomping at the bit to use it the first time… but at $79 for the 1 person and $109 for the Three person we sell them pretty quickly this time of year. We have them listed in the IDO CLASSIFIEDS.

Yes I have some. I always sit with my back to the wind on the built in chair, just like I do in all shanties… You will notice in the picture that they have a preformed skirt and if its going to be real windy I pile snow on the skirt. I guess I have never used one in a wind above 20 miles per hour so I can’t give you more personal experience info than that.
