Has any one bought a set of Arctic Armor yet?

The suit is supposed to float and be very warm. Just wondering how warm it really is and if it is worth the money.

I bought a set last year, and I sat out for three consecutive days when the high never got above -15 degrees. It was great. Most of the time, I was outside as we didn’t like getting too warm in the Otter. I would recommend getting the jacket with the lining. It’s softer, more comfortable, and warmer to the skin.

I would very highly recommend. I had borrowed an Ice Armor jacket the previous year and got cold in that one with more clothes on. I’m a believer in Arctic Armor.

I own 2 sets and like them very much. I feel you still have to layer underneath to be the right temp, but if you are active and moving around, it is almost too hot! I on the other hand own the one with the soft lining inside, and I would recommend the other one (the red suit, not the green. I hate when I put mine on, and my sleves want to pull up because of the friction of the soft lining. my camo version does not have the soft lining an i like it alot better becasue when you put it on, it just slides on. It comes down to personal preferance. i dont think you will be dissapointed.

I’ve heard roomers that the AA suit doesn’t breathe well. Is this true?

I made the biggest steal of the year when I bought a full suit, the red one, from a guy on another site who accepted my offer of $125 shipped to my door. The suit was worn for one weekend when he went ice fishing last year. Said he realized ice fishing wasn’t for him and just wanted to try to get some money back out of his stuff. The sizes were exactly what I need. I was pumped to say the least on the deal I got. The stuff looks brand new and fits me great. I can’t wait to use it.

My buddy Dave had a set on up at Mille Lacs a couple weeks back. He was very happy with how it performed for him that night in the blowing snow. I didn’t try it on, but it looks to be a pretty decent suit.

I’ve owned two different AA suits, and the real plus to these is the floating feature. I purchased mine from Dave at Pro Fishing Supply, and got them at a great price.

They’re incredibly warm, though not as warm as the Snosuit IMO. That said, I’ve only felt chilly in one under extremely cold circumstances (-20) over extended periods of inactivity. They do not breathe the best, especially in the leg/calf gaiters area. They also are not completely waterproof, though this is rarely an issue unless kneeling in slush or fishing in the rain. I’d call them water-resistant.

Where I think they really shine, is the camo variety when hunting over/near water. The material is quiet, and it’s decent camo for duck-hunters.

If you’re the kind of guy that pushes it for early/late ice, I’d strongly consider the purchase. I’m moving to a Snosuit this year for the extra warmth and waterproofing.

I’ve owned the red/black and sold it for the Plus green/black combo with the liner. I also own the camo suit for hunting.

These are great suits otherwise I wouldn’t have bought them. The camo version is the best I’ve worn for duck hunting. It’s extremely light, warm, waterproof and it floats.

The green/black suit is very warm, almost too warm if you are active. This suit in particular is great for really cold weather, but if you are active you will sweat. Sweating ends up getting chilled.

These suits do not “breathe” through the insultex very well at all, if at all. I have just taken precautions to avoid being too active and dressing lightly. Case in point: When I first got this suit, I couldn’t believe it…it was too lightweight to stand up to the extreme conditions I thought. I put it on over my T-Shirt, took my ATV out to my fishhouse 1 mile out with a strong head wind. It was about 5 degrees out. I was warm the whole ride out and back.

Waterproof: I have found it very waterproof. Soaking rains I’ve stayed completely dry. I’ve also been completely soaked during late ice ATV travels with water spraying everywhere. However, if I kneel in standing water my green suit has slowly leaked to the knees. Not in snow, however. My red/black and camo suits do not leak for some reason, at all, in the knees.

I also purchased from Dave at Pro Fishing Supply. Great prices, great guy but he’s bad for my finances!
