Once upon a time long, long ago, there was a pot bellied dude named Brian Klawitter
He had a passion for the whiskered girls, just the thoughts alone made his man thing twitter.

He liked there breath sportin’ stink of rotten cheese, enough to bring the average man to there knees.
Feeding em worms crushed suckers and such, keeping his girls happy hoping to get a little touch.

It wasn’t to be though because he turned Sally during the cold, thats when he turned sour, so I was told.
Quickly alone during winter turning into a wuss, it was evident Brian during the cold season would get know p#$$

Now when ever the fall gets close and the cool sets in, he try’s to think of things just to stir up true men.
Ignore his lashing out on the true iceheads , because with the coming of cold his stiff cat rod goes to dead!!!

I was just doing my weekly search for the words “stink” and “bait”. Found some very interesting conversations.

Time to turn up the heat!!

I just hope BK’s not right. El Niño + ice fishing=not good

El Niño Arrives; Expected to Persist through Winter 2009-10
    July 9, 2009

NOAA scientists today announced the arrival of El Niño, a climate phenomenon with a significant influence on global weather, ocean conditions and marine fisheries. El Niño, the periodic warming of central and eastern tropical Pacific waters, occurs on average every two to five years and typically lasts about 12 months.
Sea surface temperatures along the equatorial Eastern Pacific, as of July 1, are at least one degree above average — a sign of El Niño.
NOAA expects this El Niño to continue developing during the next several months, with further strengthening possible. The event is expected to last through winter 2009-10.

I know we reserve many names for BK ,
but this is the first I’ve heard him called El Nino, or is that La Nina. A stink bait by any other name…

BK and ice fishing???? I can say the 1 time I had BK chasing cats on the ice he was wasting his time catching gills and crappie while I was busy wrangling the kitties. Maybe this is why he don’t like the ice The good thing about having BK on the ice was he got a pizza delivered almost to the shack however it was still warm by the time we got to eating it. I’m looking forward to getting him back out on the ice this winter I don’t recall BK’s nose getting cold the entire time we were out

I have to fish that way!

I never get invited to the Highlands of CO!

You’re welcome Bret, as I expected you put it to good use.

BTW I have some other type of carrier for my ice gear this year…but that’s going to have to wait a while.

Not too many cats in the rivers out here.

Although the CO record channel cat was caught last week in one of the reserviors, 37″ and 35.22 lbs.

Wow, I never thought the day would come when I would find myself feeling like I should be the guy having to stick up for Brian . . . But here goes
I can personally attest that he wanted to check one of his favorite cat holes last winter and he got there by traversing ice that even Brett, Koonce, or Shuh would NOT have ventured accross.
Da’ man got more den one trick up his sleeve.

    Ya . . . cheerleaders when we were in high school, now Cat Guys at first ice;
it’s easier to get them to come with if ya got the right ride.
Although (hopefully it goes without saying) ALL SIMILARITIES end there.

I thought (hoping) this thread was dead!

I now leave the cheer leading to the Bikini Ice Team. Hopefully they will have a new calendar this year.

Bret, anytime a person breaks through ice in the middle of the Mississippi River channel there is always the possibility of getting wet.

If you happen to make it up this way, I know a guy that just might make you change your long johns if the timings right.

I forget the name of the backwater lake South of Everts. Great channel cat fishing in the winter.

The bad thing is the springs. Froze over in the morning and by late morning…no ice.

‘spose I should check and see if they have any hold overs from ’08/09.

There isn’t a way to safely fish it that I know of.
