I spoke to Deb at Ben’s Bait Shop out of Battle Lake this morning. She says the ice on area lakes is about 8-10 inches and most folks are either on foot or using snowmobile/ATV to get around. She says the ice is too inconsistent for vehicles yet so be careful.
Deb says there are nice walleye being taken on Ottertail Lake, West Battle Lake, and Clitheral Lake with anglers reporting most success in 12 to 20 feet. Perch are being taken on Ottertail, fishing the flats. Crappies and sunnies are picking up on West Battle Lake and South Turtle Lake. Deb says many folks are using minnows and even larger shiners and suckers for larger walleye.
