    Hey
i am going fishing tommorrow around a nearby lake for some crappies and panfish and was wondering wat works best this time of year.. most of the crappies on this particular lake are small but i wanna catch some.. i usually have great luck with a minnow head on a buck shot..
    thanks everyone

I have normally done well on waxies, using a small jig (flu-flu, genz bug, even fatboys.)

Mike, just about anything that works for crappies through the ice will work in the open water as well.

Figure out whether the fish prefer horizontal or vertical baits. Shrimpos, and ratsos…will help you decide that.

Great thing about those baits, is you probably won’t need to tip them with anything…

Last year I experimented with the heavier lightning spoons, and slender spoons for open water crappies…
If you happen to get a wild hair, don’t tell anybody the results of using those two deadly spoons for vertical panfishing during the open water periods…
