I bought the scratcher from Herb a few years ago and finally got a boat and assembled everything. I tried it out on a small lake that has never seen an ice scratcher and it was a lot of fun. Here is a link to a couple clips.

i would like to see how the drivetrain is made this looks cool for early/late ice.

I’m sure this would be great for first ice, but we had a real hard time going once the temps got around 40-45 so last ice may not be an option. We started the trip at 10:30 and the surface of the ice was still frozen and slippery, once that thawed a little we were done. It happened fast too becuase we made it to the far side of the lake on our 3rd trip across and when we started to come back I didnt think we were going to make it. I may need to tweak something though so dont take my word for it. I may look into putting some poly on the bottom of the boat rather than the runners.
