A 0.12 pound walleye wins 1st place an ’08 Polaris 4 wheeler. Amazing I’m figuring over 1500 lines in the water and that was the only fish and it was caught just 2 holes away from me I had a great time ran into alot of old faces and met some new. Congrats to all who won in the raffle which was over 150 people and still drawing when I left, hopefully my name got called. I will just have to wait until it gets posted on the Tournies website or Ryan could be kind enough to give us a heads up

Nice hooking up with you Jessy! I met Deluxe out there briefly.

When I spoke with John and Scotty I asked how they thought the turn out was…it was a sell out!!

So since only one fish was caught, I asked what was going to happen to the TON of other prizes. They smiled and said “raffled off!”

If you made it to the event, you’ll have a very good chance of winning some very nice prizes! It was awesome to see all those augers lined up for prizes.

For their first ice contest…SPORTSMANS WAREHOUSE did a SPECTACULAR job!!

Who was it that was worried about fishing out the lake?

There was so much activity going on that it’s funny one fish was caught! There were a couple guys with a bucket and large wooden dice playing Yatzee or something. Only in WI!

BK took home the prize for ” Warmest Nose On The Ice ” , Glad you guys trusted my directions and made it out safe and as always a pleasure to chit chat with James and yourself and it looks like Mr. Holst has found himself a new rig/boat/portable

WHat happened there BK was that everyone heard there was a contest out there so they all went and pre-fished the lake and in that time frame the lake became fished out so there was only 1 or 2 fish left in the lake. It’s a good thing they re-stocked it with them tagged fish

Now where did you get a picture of those two? They were to be in St Cloud!

So one minute Holst was standing next to me…then he was gone! A half hour later he pulls up driving a Wilcraft with this HUGE smile on his face. I’m going to need a leash next year. He could have taken me along.

1500 HOLES!!! … I have no idea where that lake is, but for the fish it must have been a maze of hooks and line…

What a fun event. I can say this If this goes on next year I will be back and I’ll have people with me. And not just because I won a new rod real, and tip up through a raffle.

BK sorry I didn’t get a chance to chat longer, I had to make sure a miracle didn’t happen and a fish found my set up.

the fishing on that lake will never be the same again though that’s for sure.

The reason only one fish was caught is because the tourney site was over a dead zone.

Organizers should set contest boundaries near the first weedline break and then go deeper from there.(But then too many fish would be caught)

    I have a silly question.

Since only one fish was caught…but all of the prized except the tag fish prizes were raffled off….AND the contest was a HUGE success for the New Richmond kids…

What’s the difference if it’s in a dead zone?

I heard from a little birdie that the new manager re-nigged on the prize that the former manager promised the Bass Lake guys.

A little birdy told me the guys running the Bass Lake tourney should be thankful Sportsman’s Warehouse didn’t kick them to the curb for all the negative pub. they received by all their “representatives.”

If I were running Sports. Warehouse and you guys put the coals to me like that, you’d be looking for another sponsor. In my eyes, the Bass Lake tourney organizers should be thankful for what they’re getting. You don’t treat sponsors like that.

The statements above are of my own opinion, and does not in anyway reflect the opinions of IDO or Sportman’s Warehouse.

I was at the Cedar Lake event… everyone was having a blast from what I could see. Ice yahtzee, kids ice skating every which direction, lots of food, lots of prizes and ample opportunities to rub elbows with your fellow anglers. Should the Sportsman’s Warehouse choose to hold this event again next year IDO will do everything they can muster to help them promote it as the top event in that area at that time of year.

It seems the Bass Lake guys are a childish bunch. I honestly can’t believe S.W. would even donate anything to them after the negative publicity I’ve read about on IDO alone. I guess the cream always rises to the top.

I’m so glad this event was a success, especially for the kids of the Richmond area!!

James and BK you guys should have been around when everyone huddled up to hear the speakers for the raffle of the prizes all the weight pushed the ice down and at least 4″ of water was on top of the ice which made it very slippery then everyone dispursed and the water was rushing back down the holes . It was kind of funny seeing all the kids splashing and playing in the water and some of the adults to.

It was a great time lots of good comrodery and if this event is held again in the future I will be attending

JJ Where you there when a kid went runnng around,I think for a prize, and bit it and fell into the water? He just got up and started laughing. and then went on his way.

Like I said earlier fish or no fish. I hope this event goes on again. I will be back EVERY time. One of the best “contest” I have EVER been to.

All I can say is what an oustanding touney! I can’t believe it was their first shot at this thing. I won a St. Croix combo When I went up to get my prize I saw the announcer giving kids free Superman poles. I never wanted to be 8 years old so badly! The kids were in high heaven. I must have seen 50 kids running around with those poles.

Fellas, did any of you stick around after the top 50 were raffled off? About 75-100 people stuck around and listened as the guy kept raffling off prizes. I was there till around 4, and he was still raffling! Not many of us standing around won, so there should be alot of surprised people Toward the end of the raffling the man announcing all day did the neatest thing for everyone that stuck around. He went in the trailer and grabbed a huge box of monoculars and grab bags of bait. Everyone of us standing around got one or several of each He thanked us for sticking around and supporting New Richmond youth. As far as the quality and number of prizes given out, and all around atmosphere ..best tourney I’ve been to!
    Can’t wait for next year!!!

Great job New Richmond and Sportsman’s Warehouse

I am so glad to hear you all had fun!!! I so wish I could have been there! One of the guys who won a $250 dollar gift cards was in and spent every penny on baits. He was so excited! That was so great to see after feilding a couple of nasty phone calls…. No I am not even going to get into that. Thanks to all who came and helped make this one a success!!!!

Nasty Phone calls? I hope this wasn’t post event! I don’t know how anyone could have been upset about anything. I mean heck you guys could have taken all the prizes and packed up since there were no fish to claim them.

Next year I’m buying 3 holes just to get the extra chances incase it’s the same situation!

I think your best option was to wait for him to set it down, and then run.
