Two vehicles break Lake Onalaska ice

ONALASKA — Two ice fishermen were wet and cold but escaped serious injury Wednesday night after both their vehicles broke through the ice on Lake Onalaska, officials said.

The first vehicle sank into the ice about 7 p.m., so the two paired up in the second vehicle only to have its back end go through as well, said Tri-State Ambulance Field Supervisor William Searles.
A bystander helped the men to shore near Hwy. 35 and Troy Street, Searles said.

The two men were treated on site and released, Searles said

what part of the lake was this on?? I was out on the lake with my truck yesterday with no problems, as were about 15 other vehicles.

The vehicles were really close to the “Big Sunfish” area. Obviously that area is all current and thinned out in a hurry.

ok, that makes me feel a little better then Still though, funny what difference a day makes, went from 12-20 vehicles yesterday to 1 today..People just don’t want to risk it. I know this weekend if I go out I won’t be driving unless there are hoards of others doing it.
