This nice warm weather has caused some major run off and diluted the ice from the shorelines in southern MN. If you are fortunate enough to not have eroded shorelines in you area I would keep a close eye on the weather or just not take the chance and get your shack off the ice. This weekend I will be helping a friend dismantle his wheel house and float the schack back to shore in pieces. This may be a long shot but does anyone know of any alternatives to this bad situation, how do people remove houses if they get submerged in deep water? I would imagine the DNR doesn’t appreciate any man made structure.

Can try getting a couple tractor tire tubes from an implement store.Might need 4 depending on the size of the shack.

I can get my hands on some steel barrels if needed. They should just about anything.

Joe, I know the feeling. Scratching my head on how to get my shack off Lake Zumbro. Driving down tomorrow in hope that some one will let me access through their yard. I would have never imagined the river would go up over 4 feet in 24 hours.

I can get you as many plastic 55 gal drums you need, let me know. could attach them to the side if it does indeed go through you could atleast drag it to shore and figure out from there

My buddy just called, he got it off the Zum tonight. 4 guys were at fishemans landing, that seemed to be the best of the 3 landings to use. My buddy offered the guys some cash if they would pull his shack off (it was at the old barn). 2 refused to go out again and one guy was unemployed so he went out and got it. The 2 guys carried the small wheeler out to the ice, then proceeded to head to the old barn. Ice was in bad shape with 1 ft. seperations, but they got it back to the landing. When they hooked up to the shack the back end was submerged and open water was behind the shack. When they got it to the landing they hooked a rope and pulled the shack off the ice and through the open water with a big truck. Just dam lucky and a little crazy. From what we saw tonight if your shack is on the Zumbro, you will need a big set of ???? if your going out to get it. Be careful guys.
