All I can say was what a beautiful day. Last 2 days have been nothing short of perfect weather. I decided to hit a deep water area looking for some white bass for pickling. I didnt think I was going to be able to go today but the better half changed her mind, imagine that. I drilled some holes in 25′ of water with the lx-5 lighting up. My best luck came on a #2 gold swedish pimple tipped with a small shiner minnow. The action wasnt fast and furious but when they wanted to hit they just exploded on it. I ended up keeping 6 bass the biggest being 15″. Once the sun peaked over the trees the bite pretty much stopped. I decided to go for a hike and hit some water i’ve never been to. That was a great decision even though I was sweating to death. Drilled a few holes in 6′ of water with instant marks. The crappies were really on a tear to go along with some nice gills. The bass were also on some sort of mission. Probally caught 15 all around 13 or 14″s. I missed alot of fish that when they hit it felt like pulling a brick off the bottom. I was lucky I didn’t lose any jigs. The ole long rod with a good back bone handled them for the most part. The crappies in the picture are all 12″s or better. The best bait I found to start was a 4mm pink/white faced fiskas hand painted jig tipped with a red/black flake tail. I decided to try a big mic in blood red with a small minnow or head or nothing at all. When the crappies or bass hit this they were not messing around. Kept a nice mess of fish for a birthday party and enough white bass for a jar.
