Well I finally got on the ice around 1 this afternoon after driving all over town to get 8″ replacement blades for my strike master. Gander Mountain, farm&fleet, and Ace were sold out. Got some re-sharps from scotty on the island. I thought for a min I would have to break out the hand auger.

I set up in 6 fow no weeds in sight and dropped a gill pill with a waxie. After loosing 2 nice specks to the tranducer line I went 20 mins without a bite. Marked a few fish coming through looking interested, but couldn’t get them to take the bait. So I bounced around and found the weed edge in 5 fow with weeds rising about 2 1/2 ft off the bottom. Water was clear enough to make out the bottom and I could see the gills moving in to check out the offering, but no takers. After half a dozen different baits my buddy showed up and suggested I squish my waxie so it was flat and transparent. I thought what the heck and squished the waxie on my gill pill. About 2 mins later I had a nice gill in the bottom of the bucket. We fished for the next couple hours and put together a nice mess of bull gills for a fish fry and a bonus 13″ perch . Not sure how the rest of the guys are doing on the lake but I saw a group of about 50 vehichles west of Schafer’s. I didn’t stop to see how they were doing though. Hope to get out again on Monday.

good work sounds like a good stay way to change it up a bit and get them to bite
