Anyone selling a flasher unit of some sort? I had the chance to fish with one last weekend. Boy is that addicting. I’m pretty much set with tackle, flip-over, auger, etc. If the price is right, I’d like to add a sonar unit.

Craigslist is a great to find an affordable used unit or new ones are sale at Fleet Farm. There are plenty of opinions around here about which ones are best.

Check ebay, they always have good electronics/fishing stuff on there. I buy most all of my high-ticket fishing items off there and also bought an Ipod. Never had any problems, and always end up saving at least 20 bucks, have saved as much as 100..I strongly suggest getting a marcum VX-1 or one of the Lx series. The 3’s and 5’s are a little pricier and are great units, but the 1 gives you the basics and is a quality quality unit. Pick up a soft case for like 15-20 bucks and its ready to take on the elements. Not to name names but I know someone who dropped one in the water and it was submerged on the bottom in 8 ft of water for 15 minutes. He got it back, dried it out for a week and has been using it ever since That was a year and a few months ago.

dont think brand name matters but once you fish with a flasher you wont fish without one good luck with your purchase

I don’t have one for sale, but I can tell you what to avoid.
Humminbird Ice. You will be very disappointed. The unit fails to pick up your jig making it difficult to determine what depth your fishing. Against my better judgement, I ignored the advice of the Marcum and Vex users.

Same here with the humminbird I used for a couple weeks back in december and january. in the end we took it back as the wide beam is useless. I did like the big screen but the sensitivity is nowhere near as good as a marcum or vex.

Great info. I’m still looking. If you know of a good deal, please pass it on.

Tons of flashers on craig’s list every day. If you get an FL8, make sure it has the IR functionality.

Thanks Kooty. I’m looking at a couple on Ebay as well.

If you can hold out until the end of ice season, there will be some very good deals. Definitely use this time to educate yourself on the used market knowing it’s prime season. Good luck, I would be lost without my flasher.
