    Has anyone ever used these

I’m sick of breaking the tips off my ice rods, one of these times it will be my nicer St Croix’s to break

I’m not looking to break the bank but looking for an effect way to transport rods safely.

I think they would work if your rods are the length of the bag. I had some made from old blue jeans. I made a sleeve the length of the rod. I also put a tie strap on the end to tie it up. It helps from keeps the line from getting tangle and wiping around when you go down the road. It work for me!I also use a sports bag and zip it up to protect all the etc. good luck!

yes i have tryed them. Do not get it, the st croix rods dont fit. The guides are to long and the rod tube has to small of a diameter to fit a rod into it. I work at Christophersons bait in Alexandria Mn and we have them for 5 dollars and i still wouldnt buy them. I tryed every rod i own(about 20) in the rod saber and only one thorne bros rod would fit.

I would take a look at the marcum rod bags, or the stone legacy revolution bags, I have both, and they both work great.

pete, i have a thorne bros bag myself. it comes with 4 rod sleeves, but ive found that it doesnt save the rod tips…

a lot of guys use a hard sided arrow case. something along that lines will be my next attempt. there is a hard sided case designed by an ice fishing gear co, but i forgot who it is. im sure someones got a link for you.

I have an HT bag with three pockets. In the center pocket I have carried as many as 9 rods and reels while toting 2 tip-ups in one side pocket and all the tackle I need in the other. It has worked very well for me and I got it for cheap…around $15 or so I think. The drawback I suppose is that the rod storage does not provide individual tubes or sleeves for rods but it sure has provided more protection and organization than having the rod tips protruding from the top of a five gallon pail.

    Hi Pete,

This is the “Revolution Case” by Stone Legacy.

I’ve had one for 3 years now and won’t be looking for
    an alternative anytime soon.

I agree with the others on that case you posted, Pete. I had some cases like that and they definitely broke some of my rods. If the case moved, and the rods inside moved….basically the line on your reel would hit resistance on the end of the tube, pull on the line that puts pressure on the rod tip and snap it clean off.

I have owned a Thorne Bros. rod/gear bag for years and it’s never failed me. It secures 6 rods well and holds all my tackle with ease, and you can also secure it to your back if needed. I hope they still make them because I need another!
