I had a fantastic night with the little man. We got on the ice late and had fish right from the get go. The first fish came as I was still getting things set up in the shack. Alex set the hook on what I thought was going to be a big bull, the drag started singing right from the hook set, and up the hole came a nice fat bass. The camera had not made it into the shack yet, so we did not get a pic, but it was a great way to start the evening. From there on it was non stop action. We got into a few really nice gill and a ton of crappies. Most of the crappies were in the 9-10 inch range. The action was fast and furious and I had a blast watching Alex pull up fish hand over fist. It was a great start to an early weekend

I was talking to Bob yesterday as I cruised across Nebraska(55 degrees down there). He was telling
Alex, “don’t stomp on the ice bud, you’ll scare the fish away”. All I could think of was how lucky he is to be able to take his son out fishing with him. I’ll have to get Jocelyn out there with us, just keep Alex away from her.

You just can’t compare that one on one time with your kids. They can tell you’re just as excited as they are when they’re pulling those fish up. It’s days like those they’ll remember forever.
