I want to plan a bout a 5 day trip to Lake of the Woods. Does anyone have any suggestions as to guides/or resorts that they have been too? Also I have seen some crappies taken up there through the ice. Is that a possibility for one of the days as well? Any input would help.. Thanks I appreciate it..

Look under the Lake of the Woods forum. There is alot of good information and current reports under there. As for the crappies, I think most of the crappies come from the Northern part of the lake around the NW Angle.

Yep, crappies are more angle area and into canada. If you plan to go out of Baudette I would suggest Wig Wam. I’ve been there 8 times in the last 2 years and will be 2 more times this year.

Lots of good resorts to pick from on LOW.Just do a search lakeofthewoodsmn and you will get most of them.Based on the reports I have heard so far and 1 trip recently to the south shore it has been slow this year. You will still catch fish but it hasnt been the typical LOW fishing.I would suggest looking at going up to the Angle,Oak Island area. You can also get a guide up there if you want to go after Crappies.I think they get most of them on the Canadian side. The only thing with the angle is transportation. You can drive up to the angle and they pick you up with a Bomber or you can take a bomber out from the south shore but it will cost ya $$$.Or you can snowmobile up on the trail. We have a group going up there next Monday to Sportsmans Oak Island on sleds for a few days and I will try to put up a report when I get back.

Another thing to check is if any of the resorts are puting houses way out on the lake out by the reefs.Normally some will do that but not sure this year with all the snow.Im sure some of the resorts will and this would also be a good option.

    Check out this guy:

He’s got fish houses and a Snowbear. Several options depending how much you want to spend.

He also has a nice cabin to rent.

Jason is a good guy and provides great service.

We rented his cabin last year and had a great time. Will be back up first week in March.

I heard River Bend is going to move some houses out to the reefs.
