I got a chance to get out on the ice a few times over the long weekend that we just had. The ice is in great shape around the metro. I fished a few different lakes looking for some Bulls. The bite was good early in the day and again late, but the mid day bite was hard to come by. The fish just seemed to shut off and hug the bottom. Weather has had a lot to do with the quality of the bite as of late. Fronts and clouds make for a great afternoon bite, however when the clouds break up and the sky is blue these big bulls won’t budge. After putting about 100 holes in the ice yesterday afternoon, and not finding one fish on the flasher, we called it a day.

That’s just not right Bobby!! Man those are pigs.

I got out on Sunday afternoon and had “one of those days”. I caught fish from the time I setup til the time I left with 10 eaters. The conditions were very good, cloud cover and nobody within 80 yards of me. I was using a pink/glow ratso tipped with red spikes. The fish were just flying up to the meet the jig.

Boy did they taste good last night. Sorry about the pics, but best I could do on my own while trying to remain somewhat silent.

Did you count my 125? I’m throwing in the towel on that lake.

I can think of 10000 other lakes I’d like to drill out 15 acres of.

You sir have a gift,……not sure what it is yet though.

I can’t get that video to convert into a photo
I have a great shot of Steve(spd800) with two tank gills, I thought I was taking a photo, but somehow managed to take a short video and then the camera died.

I was out yesterday as well on a small metro lake. I drilled at least 40 holes and never marked a fish. Your report gives me a little hope that it was just not just my technique yesterday. It was still a nice day on the ice for me. The weather made it decent to hole hop.

Nice fish. Keep that little gem under your hat! Unless you want to PM it to me that is.

Must be a winterkill lake or something, those are the giant humpheads I find down here in the S part of the state at times. Dandies!!

Actually it’s a small lake in Wisconsin.
