Hey everyone, I posted this message a few days ago in the Metro Area forum, got no replies so I figured I’d try here, any help would be awesome!

I’ve fished White Bear in the summers and I’ve caught large and smallmouth bass, pike, and even a muskie. I know there are walleye in there, where are they? I’ve given them a shot through the ice, on that big underwater ridge south of the peninsula on the Mahtomedi side…all I see on my camera are little perch. I’m pretty new to icefishing walleyes, anybody have any suggestions? White Bear may not be the best walleye lake but its close to home. Thanks in advance, everyone. Starting in March its back to Pool 4.

I tried fishing that several times in the summer for walleye and never had much luck. I just decided to focus my efforts elsewhere, but it’d be interesting to know how you do there. I would think ice fishing would be a great way to figure out that lake and the Walleye population.

The lake gets stocked as much as any. The fish are there, they are just really skittish. I caught some smaller ones early season, but only when it was good and quiet. Any noise and the eyes take off. Find some deeper structure away from anyone else, and you can probably get an eye or two.
