    Just picked one up today
Pretty nice, the boys will love it but the one feature it doesn’t have is a brace or a stop to turn it into a wind block while half open. Have a few ideas but before I drill and modify has anyone come up with any good solutions?

    Jeff,

You can probably call USL and get one pretty cheap. That would be my suggestion.

I thought the guide came with one…Unless they changed them since I worked at Gander 5 years ago.

Also, I drive by there everyday. If someone is heading to the GTG, I could help get it to them…

I bought one two years ago and it had the brace. It is an adjustable bar. The thing I would like for my Guide is a cover. Gander doesn’t carry it. Suppose I will have to make a road trip to Scheel’s in Eau Claire.

I did bite the bullet and got the cover for it, elastic fit with no straps

I took both the seats out and use a fold up chair. This way I have room for all my gear, heater, lantern, buckets, etc. Pretty nice having all that room to yourself. You should be able to pick up the brace from clam. They aren’t that spendy. You could pry make one out of conduit if you really wanted to. The only issue would be to find a clip to fit the top bar.

This is a bench seat. If I remove it(which would really cut the weight down) did you lose any stability? I do like the idea of the shack laying flat for more gear
I found out that two 5″ blocks of wood cut at the same angles as the pivot point and first u-bar hold the set up perfectly in the halfway position Thanks anyway for the offer Kooty

I was reading on one of your posts that you removed your seats from you Fishtrap guide. Do you still have them and would you sell them?

I’m going to use the trap tomorrow and make sure the seat removal doesn’t cause a stability issue. If not I would gladly unload it. They didn’t skimp when they designed the seats-23 lbs.or roughly 1\4th of the entire weight.

Getting a demo model the rep also threw in exra cusions also so they would go with it of course.

    PM me after the w-end
