What is the best walleye Lake in Polk County Wisconsin this time of year. I have a cabin on Balsam, so any lake in the area would be reachable. Im kind of new to walleye fishing through the ice. Is there any specific structure or lake I need to be fishing? Any info would be great!!!

Do you know what kind of structure to fish or where an approximate location would be?

Just my two cents, because I don’t fish it, but from what I remember Balsam has many different arms or branches. I’d find the biggest piece of underwater structure in the biggest basin or lake area and work the drop offs on that. I would start at the biggest point on that piece of structure. On the other hand the shallow mud basins where any creeks come in can also be productive (from my experiences)- This shallow mud is quite different from the classic walleye structure, but each lake has their particular niches. The mud is usually better for walleye fishing with tip ups.
In general that is tip up country with shiners. I prefer jigging Rapala’s though, as I stay on the move. I think Balsam is good crappie water too. Good luck. Turk

try out in front of the beach, butternut (big) north end out from boat landing, cedar lake eastside in the rocks, but it may hard to reach by truck, devils lake (webster) boat landing, then there’s always yellow
