OK… Thats it!! MERCY!! We’re heading into a warming trend!! No more Global warming Cracks as that ruffled some feathers!! We can actually peek our noses outside the Portables and do some searching. I tell ya so far this winter at least here in Borderland it has been imperative you are “Spot On” (Thanks Lakemaster). Taking down and relocating has not been very appealing!! Two things first off with this warming trend the fish are going to be on the chew!! Second thing with a few guys you can pound holes over structure to determine not only the whereabouts the fish are located, but what is triggering them to bite. Whether your fishing Panfish or walleyes/pike work in numbers. Use your Lakemasters chip to pinpoint saddles and transition areas and spread out. Focus efforts on feeding shoals or deep highways along breaks as they will act a a funnel for the big fish. Once one of the boys/girls notices more activity than the others whether that be baitfish or gamefish zero in on the activity. Likely there is a reason. Maybe you’ve accidentally located next to a boulder in the mud… Don’t for a second think it is just a “Lucky” hole. Very likely if you were to drop a camera down there WILL be a reason the fish are relating to that location. There are going to be some monsters pulled out in the next week. Stay on the move, and fire up the auger!! This is a prime time for more trophies!! Hate to say it is going to get better, but the mobility will enable anglers to transition with the fish. Great time to be on Rainy Lake!! (It is always a good time to be on Rainy!!)
