My buddy just bought a VX-1. When You push the zoom button should the screen split like my LX-5?? When we push the zoom button it beeps but doesn’t split the sceen in half??
Could the battery be to low??

Turn your gain up so you get a good bottom signal and then push the zoom button. Once in zoom mode you can turn your gain back down to where you want it. The zoom mode on these units needs a really strong bottom signal to get started. Common problem, easy fix. 
If that doesn’t work let me know.
The VX-1 has to find bottom in order for the zoom to work. It operates a little different than the other MarCum units. As stated above, turn your gain up some, make sure you have good bottom and then turn the zoom on.
I was trying to do it off the wood table….(no water) maybe I’m not getting a strong enough signal….He’s taking it out on the ice today….I’ll know later.

It is nearly impossible to get the zoom to work in air with the VX-1. Give it a try in water, it will work fine.
Just heard from my buddy….everything is working fine in the water. Bad thing fish are not cooperating in the cold weather.
