Anyone here fishing this? I must say as a resident of the area, I was very surprised by the lake choice!

I’m not fishing it but I’ll be interested to see how it turns out. I hear Byllesby can be a tough nut to crack.

I’ve helped out a few of the teams with some general info thus far. Hoping there are some locals that go out there and participate. By rights, they should clean house, as it is a very tough nut to crack. Anyone can catch fish at anytime however, so it’ll probably be some guys from out east that find a pod of nicer crappies.

Kicking myself for not going after this, but I just can’t seem to find the time to pre-fish it appropriately.

Wow if the formats only panfish, that could be a really boring contest. The pannies are tough to come by there.

Joel I won’t be heading west to fish it, going to Vermont in March for the Bomoseen event.

    Timmy:

I don’t think you’re going to miss much. Good luck in March and show ’em how it’s done!

That’s what most of the locals thought, too. The NAIFC icers as good though, and they cracked the code. Not only are there panfish in there, but there are nice ones.

Most of the locals would’ve concentrated on the 2lb+ whities in there had they known they were legal quarry before registration closed on friday!

This was far from a case of the pro’s coming to show the local boys how to fish, as those fish weren’t being caught until the 25 degree temps came game-day to burgeon the bite. The poor bite found the previous week, no doubt, caused the tourney organizers to change the rules format in the 11th hour to make the weigh-in more impressive.

That said, you’re right, the NAIFC guys ARE top-notch and still did manage to turn some heads; esp. with the size of the sunfish caught. Most however figured that someone would get into the nicer crappies that are caught from time to time on that lake.

I especially commend them for pre-fishing during what were the most brutal conditions of the winter, thus-far.
