    Hi all,

Well, turns out our ice fishing gear has either been misplaced or stolen … and I’m guessing misplaced is more likely as I haven’t been able to get to the cabin to look for it yet (due to the flu). So just in case I’m going to get a new combo and tip up for the weekend.

Any ideas on places in the metro that have good deals on combos right now? I’m looking for something under $40 and I like a medium heavy setup – don’t like wimpy rods … need a little backbone for my Mille Lacs walleyes and jumbos!

Also, has anybody used the Frabill tipups with the built-in light indicator? I’ve always attached the flashing alarm to my old tip ups and those work great. Wondering if this light on the round insulated Frabill tip up works well or not.

    Thanks!!!

The world’s your oyster if you’re looking for inexpensive ice combos.

Cabelas has a good selection. I checked online and there’s a bunch of quality looking sticks with reel that would keep you on budget. The Cabelas XMI w/ reel for $39.99 look promising.

When I was just in Fleetfarm the other day there was a big selection there as well that would keep you within budget. I would imagine Gander would have the same / similar.

As for the lighted tip-ups, sorry, never used them so I’m of no help to you.
