Lesson learned on the ice

On Friday morning, we were getting setup on Big Round Lake. As I entered my fish shack my glasses fogged up. I moved the glasses to the top of my head and pulled my flasher out of my bucket. When I turned to set down the flasher my glasses dropped rignt into the fishing hole. It was a one-in-a-million shot. I quickly unpacked my fish camera and went searching for my glasses. Unfortunately I couldn’t find them.

From now on the glasses go into the chest pocket.

Isn’t it funny how big an ice fishing hole can get when you drop something

Bummer dude, been there and done that…any idea how much stuff finds that opening in the hard waters

My girlfriends digital camera went down the hole when I used it. Go figure.

I actually think you have less chance that things fall and land on the floor.

Wonder if Tuck’s blueberry is still taking messages on the bottom of Mille Lacs?

BTW…the ice scoopers with the orange plastic scoops…they don’t float.

I was hoping that Leatherman’s float. I’ve never seen something sink that fast.

Last year my brother and I were fishing on Lake Onalaska. I had a gill hooked pretty deep and asked him for his forceps. After I finished with them, I reached over and was clipping them back on his jacket……….they went plunk!!!! Never touched the floor of the shack, the side of the hole….nothing. Later in the day we moved location and were setting up my Shappell. We hadn’t drilled any hole yet and as we were putting the spreader pole in my brother dropped half of the pole………PLUNK!!! One of the hole covers was flipped up and the pole never touched the floor of the shack or the ice!!!! Went right down an already drilled hole!! I told him that wasn’t necessary…..I’d have bought him a new forceps!!!!

Walking out of the shack, slipped, new work blackberry slipped out of my hand…

Down I go, kicking the heater over, marcum goes flying and I land on the phone, quickly put it back in my pocket, set the heater back up, put the marcum back down the hole all the rods are still in one piece, shake my head and say a few words to myself, walked out and pretend it never happend….

One of our guys lost his prescription glasses on Leech Lake 15 fow. With a camera, a gaff, long arm and heavey lure we got them back, then another guy drops his prescription glasses in at Green Lake (Blackhawk Park) goes home and gets some garden tools. Only about 3 feet of water but he can’t locate them. A kid comes along and asks to use the tools to retrieve his dads ice scoop. The kids successful so we ask him to try for the glasses and he gets them out too. What are the odds.

Most guys I know drop stuff in hole out of chest pocket. Leave the fone in the car. I do and never miss anything.
