The first pic of today’s weather pattern says it all for what Blue fleck, good friend Dave and I found today for a bite.

Both spots fished produced quality marks but man……dem der buggers were tight lip for the most part

With a high in the upper thirty’s yesterday and waking up to the low teens this morning, I have to believe it changed the mood in the bigger fish. Also if you notice, the barometric pressure was high to begin with but still on the rise…….. all day.

Between the three of us we drop a good number of baits. Picture here are the 2 nicest crappies (not tapped but guessed at 10inches) that came top side for a quick pic for me, with the jigs they fell victim too.

It still felt like everything happened in fast forward, I couldn’t believe when my allowed time for the day was over with at 11am …… that’s what happens even with a slow bite but good conversation between the best of friends is going down

Hope you all found a better bite, or at least were spending quality time

Nice looking crappies Bret! I always say it’s a good day on the ice when it’s spent with friends, regardless of the bite!!!

    Bret,
Sure seemed like a nice morning to be on the ice. Not to get off track here, but I want to echo the post by John R. and say Thank You for everything you have taught me in the past few years. I got to spend a few hours on the ice Saturday morning with Bret, John R and an friend of mine. Even though it rained on us, and the bit was very slow for me, I enjoyed the time spent with friends.

BTW, what is the website that you use to get that information on the first picture?

Thanks again and nice report as always.

Thanks for the report! It was really no better up in Hayward, we caught a few decent crappies, but the looker to catch rate was probably 15 to 1. I enjoyed seeing my bait on the bottom in 18 feet though

We left La Crosse at 1:45 AM..after doing some driving looking for a place to go out on the lake, we finally found it and were fishing by 5:30. After an attempt at some walleyes after dark we were off the ice at 6:30. My parents just wouldn’t allow an over night trip One more year and we are going to be spending at least 3-5 days on a lake somewhere up there We burned a lot of gas but it was nice to go on a trip. And with the price of gas right now, it really wasn’t too expensive to drive up there. With split costs it was about 25 bucks for each of us to drive up
