Fishing was hard goind yesterday, 4 hours and 4 keepers. But the temps were climbing into the mid 60’s today, so we decided to make one last trip out before the ice left again.

We went to a ditch that connects to the Kankakee river that I havn’t fish on ice in a few years. It has tight holes from the farmers ditch pumps that reach 5-6 deep.

We ended up keeping 25 in a little over an hour before we left for another Christmas dinner.

thats what I was thinking, the larger ones had the yellowish tipped tails. ?
I was using a pink hair jig with a red spike.

What is a hybrid? Gill crossed with a green eared sunfish?

We need a few ponds up this way loaded with those bad boys

Those are some great looking gills! Huge belleys on em! Did you happen to cut any open to try & determine what they were feeding on – aside from your bait of course?
