On the ice at 6:30 this morning. Within 15 minutes marks were flying in at a frostee jigging spoon tipped with a waxie. The fish were hardly interested in biting but they came in pretty agressively. some switches were made, and after glowing up the frostee and adding a minnow head, i found the right combination. When I could get it on a mark in the 4 ft range in 6-1/2 ft of water, the fish would nail it. Too bad this only lasted about 15 minutes and Justin and I pulled the plug to go run some errands for our trip to Hayward. The weather will have us postponed until Sunday, and we will hopefully have a pool 8 full report with pictures (new camera ) tomorrow night.

Here are a couple nice crappies I caught today. Just trying to get the hang of the camera and tripod.

Nice slabs Cade. What kind of digital did you end up with? I’m afraid I’ll be in the market soon enough
    Good luck up north btw

Thanks guys, I should add, even though the first two pictures are in the exact same position, believe it or not they are 2 different fish. The first one is around 11-1/2″ and the second just over 12″. The 2nd fish was bleeding out of its mouth just a bit

I guess the tripod tends to force you into the same body positions over and over again

Nice report Cade and fish. New cameras are fun, now you’ll have to get enrolled in the Bret Clark school of fine fish photography.

Nice looking fish. Wish I could tie into a few of those. Did you use the Pull IT strap? How did it work??

The strap was awesome. It was still difficult to walk around on the ice, but not because of the strap, just because it’s just plain tough to walk through 16″ of snow! What I liked most is my endurance. I was able to walk all over and good distances without even a slight pause for a break. before the strap I had to make frequent stops to get energy. Today there was no snow factor, but instead water and slush, and lots of it. It was nice to not have to worry about pulling the shanty, just focus on trying to keep my feet as dry as possible
