LX-5 ducer not shooting straight down

I remember there being a post last year, and I cannot find it for the life of me. I was out with the Marcum for the first time this year, I know, I know, way to late, but any way, it would not pick up my jig for the first 5-8 feet, but then it appeared. If I rotated the ducer, it would pick it up, so it is acting as if the beam is being shot out at an angle relative to vertical as opposed to perfectly vertical. I am not talking about the actual cone, but the aim of the cone if you will. Somebody brought this up last year too and I am wondering if there was ever a fix for it. I want to say, people were adding weights to one side. From a visual standpoint, it is hanging perfectly vertical. Just thought I would ask the pros.

Just had my FL20 down at vexilar yesterday for this exact problem. They simply put a new ducer on it for no charge.

I wouldn’t do anything to modify the ducer. Just contact MarCum. I’m sure they’ll give you a replacement at no charge.

Not all ducers hang perfectly level. In fact I have 3 from various makers that I’ve glued weight to one side or the other.

I am having a similar situation. I bought a refurbished unit this year and right out of the box, the transducer cord has a serious kink about 3″ up from the transducer So, when it is hanging down, it shoots off to the side. I can pick up my jig, but it has to be down around half-way or so
I am hoping it will straighten out on its own?

Mike, I doubt it straightens itself. Just try reversing the kink. Don’t pull on the cord. In the meantime I’d call the company and have them ship a new ducer to ya.
