MARCUM FLASHER HAVING DIFFICULTIES

I have a Marcum 3, that is like a year old but bought off of Ebay for considerable less but still brand new.

Problem – yesterday I go to use it and it turns on and shows the surface red line and everything is spinning and the battery is full. BUT I cannot get bottom to read on any of the feet readings, and neither will fish show up on the screen .The only color showing is the top line. and Zoom lines when promopted. The interference appears to be working and the zoom appears to be working. And it sounds like the transducer is sending its little pinging noises. Any sugggestions ???

Is there ice frozen to the bottom of the ducer? Just a thought.

Just a wild guess, I’m going to guess that its older than 1 year and you’ve got a unit that came out with the bad batch of transducers. Does the unit have a the True Color upgrade?
Either way, go to MarCum’s site and shoot John an email. He’ll straighten it out for you.

Ice shouldn’t make a difference as they can read thru ice. My guess is that you have a bad xducer. See if you can borrow a buddy’s xducer and test it out. It would eliminate that part of it anyway?

I called Marcum and am waiting for response. Was there a major problem with the ducers? In otherwords did they recall them? or offer free replacement?

A few years ago there was a batch of bad ducers that went went. MarCum recognized the issue and replaced them. That was years ago. I asked if it had the True Color upgrade because that is a sure fire way to tell if its old model and if you were lied to across ebay.

Also frozen ice on the bottom will give you a goofy reading but you’d be able to make out a bottom.

its a ice unit but does not have the TC upgrade. Also the ducer was free of ice and has been well taken care of, doesnt get banged around..\FF

Were you in water deeper than 20 feet? Sounds to me like that might have been the problem. Just checking..

He said it didn’t work on any “feet setting”.

I know John at MarCum is very busy after all the ice show requests, so it may take a bit.

I would think it’s a bad ducer, I got a LX3 that’s gotta go in for some repairs, it’s just not right, but I bought it used so it’s hard to say what the issue is exactly, my original LX3 I bought new is still perfect and my ducer is a little beat up.

I called John and he has never heard of it doing whats it doing. I need to find another lx3 to try another transducer to rule that out but dont know of anyone in Rochester that has one to borrow for a few minutes….

    Anyone available in the area.

I’m fishing in a camper converted to a ice shack and it sits 17″ off the ice and now with the thick ice my Marcum LX3 transducer cable isn’t long enough to get a good reading. Does anybody have any ideas or can I get a longer cable somewhere? I checked there web site and didn’t see anything that would help.

I believe all the newer MarCum transducers come standard at 6′ long. That should get you the added length you need.

Thanks I’ll have to try and find where they sell just the transducers. Anyone know where they sell them over the internet and I can make sure they are 6′ long?

I would call John at Marcum Technologies. He’s the best source of info. Do a search for Nature Vision and you’ll get where you need to go.

We have “my vex needs help” posts here. Nobody makes a product that will never need repairs.
