A few times every winter on the pond we see a nice northern come through on the camera. I usually try to tempt them with my perch/walleye jig with bad results. This year I plan to have another rod ready to go. But what jig is a good pike bait?
    Thanks, Dream’n

Chubby darter or a spoon (~2″) with minnow head. I like Flyer Spoons but the Slender spoon look like they would be a good choice also. Sometimes that little more flash and hang time is what they want.

    Good luck…

I have been playing with the jig stick for toothy’s more and more every year. So far my favorite has been a Pearl head with Purple/White 1/4oz hair jig tipped with a medium size shiner.

I keep a shiner on a treble in the bucket and when the gills freak out and disappear, you just ease it down there and pow. I do this fishing shallow on lake Mendota and it is a riot. I had a nice big one so close to my camera last year all you could see was one eye.

Up on the iron range we used Dr. spoons with a big rainbow chub

Jigging rapala is also a great pike lure.
