Hardwater Gills

Been pretty much a walleye fisherman for ice fishing over the past 35 years, always had a stationary shack and used primarily tip-ups. As decent walleyes are getting to be a scarce commodity in my area, been doing a little more panfishing of late, mostly crappies and perch, but would like to target bluegills the next few times out. I have a few favorite gill lakes for spring spawn fishing, but have never attempted hardwater jigging. What areas do they spend the winter in? Are they suspended or hugging the bottom? Fast action or slow action? I’ve got all the electronics and gear but need the species specific info…

Check out last seasons video on Early panfish

Good stuff that should point you in the right direction.

Generally like to start shallow in the early season with plenty of weed growth around. Shallow gills are usually hungry gills
