We just added Angel Eyes and the new Glo Devils from Scenic Tackle to the B Fish N Tackle website. Check them out. Cards of 12 of each at pretty decent prices.

Hands down they are the best jigging spoons out there. I use the Glow Devils all the time. They fish very fast and flat out catch fish. Give them a try, you will be amazed. I have introduced the Glow Devils to a lot of fishing friends and clients and their success speaks for itself.

This year Jeff at Scenic Tackle has added a 1/16 ounce size, which will be the ticket for finicky perch, walleye and crappie. I have used the 1/8 ounce for two years now, and I am not lying when I say that I always am using a Glow Devil on one rod. Definetly worth a try.

Hey Scott, Do you jig the spoons plain or do you add a piece of live bait to them? Some people seem to prefer it different ways but which way do you catch the most and biggest fish with? Thanks, Bill

Bill, great question. I always tip them, 90% of the time with the head of a minnow. I jig them like a regular jigging spoon as an attractant but I get very few hits on them while I am jigging. Most of the hits will come when the spoon is held dead still or as you are pulling it away from them (slowly pulling up)

It is fun to watch on my LX-3, the jigging brings them in and then slowly pull it away from them and WHAM!! They just pound it. (Yes, that gets me a little excited). Glow Devils are the real deal, I have yet to have one person that tried them come back and say they weren’t.

There are a lot of times that they are the only thing that works on Mille Lacs. Before the Glow Devil, I used a lot of Forage Minnows, but no longer. They are also deadly on Jumbo Perch, from NE SD to LOW, to Winnnie to Mille Lacs.

Just using the head of the minnow will prevent all those short strikes you get using the whole minnow. It will also get you bigger fish that are reluctant to bite during the tough winter months.

Bill.. I like to tip my Angel Eye’s and Glow Devil’s with strips of raw chicken skin. It drives Jumbo Perch crazy. It also cuts down on your cholesterol.

Mike shipped some to Great Britain for pete’s sake! Do they even get ice near London? I do his website and he was worried he would need to pull that product down… he’s got a fresh supply in on Monday so he’s happy and I don’t have to mess with the site.

I’m going to start blocking his calls.

London?? Well thats out about as far as I have shipped them. Last year I did send a batch to Germany and they have reordered twice since that time.

Pull it down??? NO NO NO… he’s got another batch on the way!! Mike did call me today too and he sounded just a bit frantic!! I AM OUT of Glow Devils ALREADY!!!!!!!!!! That problem has been taken care of and he also has a batch of the new 1/16th oz on the way too. A much bigger batch this time!!

3WAY,welcome to the site. There are many different lines you could use for ice fishing that will work for panfish.Yes your 6# test-2# diameter will work fine. Also Berkley has some great line for ice fishing. They have a Micro Ice in mono and Fireline. Also a Vanish leader for clear water fish works great.I have a friend that uses Bekley Sensation during ice fishing and he loves it.Best of luck.

I use 2# or 3# P-line Floroice. Its a great winter panfish mono. Very sensitive and low stretch yet it comes off the reel nice and doesn’t coil.

I spooled up a couple reels a few years ago with fireline and it didn’t stay on long. The fireline had a tendancy to soak up water and would freeze on the spool. Ended up going back to ice mono.

I second the P-line. Didnt get to use it long, but it seemed to work good, came off the spool real straight, no coils.

Wow, this cold weather has to be making ice somewhere. I saw a lot of lakes totally frozen over this weekend, but he wind screwed that up this week.

I recently wrote and article on fishing the Glow Devils early ice. Jigging spoons for early ice can be a blast. If you are really careful and quiet you can site fish early ice walleye in shallow water. To me it doesn’t get any better. As long as we get ice without a lot of snow you should be able to site fish. Of course, this mean no light in the house and no moving around, but talk about fun!

I agree that fireline isn’t what I would use for ice fishing. I went out last year the first time, and I didn’t wait too long to remove the fireline from my reel. Good thing I had put about 30 yds of mono backing so the fireline wouldn’t spin. It saved what would otherwise have been a miserable day on the ice. Since I have been using 2 or 4 lb XT mono. No problems yet.

I’ve been running 6lb. fireline the last two seasons and have very good luck with it. I’m usually in a heated house though. I’m sure that makes for a huge difference compared to sitting on a bucket.

I have had no luck with fireline, even the smallest stuff. I move around a lot when I fish and when it is super cold that stuff has WAY to much memory.

The other drawback with fireline is when your are fighting a big fish the lack of strech can be a real problem.
