I decided to try some open water fishing and may not ice fish for awhile if this keeps up. WOW! I’ve been bank fishing below dams on the Red Cedar River in the Rice Lake area. All fish were caught using suspending jerk baits at the tail end of the pools and parallel to rock banks. Fishing slowly with long pauses. Most bites are coming during the pause. The pic of me was taken by my Dad on 1-12. The others were taken last night. When the weather warms up a little my son-in-law and I are going to try fishing from a small jon boat, something we can carry over the bank. It will be interesting to see how they’ll bite during the day below the spillways and mid-pool areas. If we get on a good bite I’ll post the results later.
