Today I got to take a visiting La Crosse P.A. student fishing for some eyes today. He is up here for a month on rotation and is working with my wife at the local clinic. We met at my house and off we went to see if some eyes would hit the ice.
With a nasty wind blowing and snow in the air we made a trip to a mud flat that was producing for me last year. We set up and the wait began. Many cigar eyes were biting but no size, that would come in the last hour of light.
5 eyes 15-18″ hit the ice in 30 minutes as darkness setteled in. Most of the fish can on fatheads under tip-ups. Jigged everything I had but couldn’t get anything consistant going.
Great day on the water with great company.
