I headed back to the same spot yesterday in hopes of another good day on the ice. The morning was a lot colder and the wind was blowing.
We started out in the same holes as yesterday and were seeing a few “sluggish” fish on the flashers, but they weren’t wanting what we were offering.
So off with the auger I went I drilled a series of holes for about 50 yards until I could find some active fish. Finally got a good bite and iced a nice crappie. Yesterday the fish were in 8 FOW and hitting within a foot from the bottom. Today the fish were found in 6-7 feet with some of the better bites coming suspended around 2-3 feet off the bottom. I think we only ran into two other groups on the ice all day. As before they were using wax worms and spikes and coming up with bluegills only. Today the hot bait was a pink/white demon with power bait. Very few fish were taken on a rembrant which was a total opposite of yesterday.
So for 400 miles of round trip driving in two days paned out to be very good for us. Pack light, be mobile, use your flasher and you will be able to pick up some good fish. “Stay outside the crowd” Here’s a few pics of a 12 1/2” and a 13 1/4” crappie and my days catch, enjoy!!
