If you saw my other post about taking a mud bath then you already know my fishing trip was cut short.

While we were out, the fishing was pretty good in the early part of the morning. Not a lot of fish, but what lacked in quantity was surely made up with quality.

The Crappies we saw caught were easily in the 11-13″ range. The Bluegills were 7-9″ range.

My hot jig was the the smallest sized Diamond Jig in the Firetiger pattern. It was rigged with a waxie for a horizontal presentation. This approach has been good for me when I’m able to stay above the ice.

Here’s a couple pics from the morning. The first one is an 8″ Bluegill that found my Diamond Jig too be too much to resist.

The second is an 11.5″ Crappie who also found the jig too much to pass up.

Good luck fishing and stay safe.
