Was wondering what you guys think makes a good rod for fishing pan fish threw the ice? My thoughts would be similar to the reason I chose many of my other rods. Soft tip to see the bite s but enough back bone to set the hook and fight the fish. Would you go with a stiffer rod to set the hook into tough lipped fish like sunnies and perch. Maybe lighter for crappies papper mouths?
Next question. What reasons do you guys use for chosing a certian lenght rod over another one? I would think one reason would be if you where planning on fishing in a fish house as to outside. Might need a shorter rod because of lack of room in a house. Any other reasons.
Thanks guys. I have not spent much time seriously ice fishing lately and just looking to expand my knowledge of rod selection. It would be great to hear if you guys have makes and models that you like. Would also like to hear the reason you like these so I know what to look for when looking for a new rod.
