I made it out for the first time today, and man it was nice to be out.I was able to try out the preserved waxies I bought at HOF and they did catch fish, but it was 1 fish per worm, they don’t hang on like a live one will. I think I’ll stay with the live ones. Now I also bought some plastic there also and it worked good, the first fish I caught was a 9 inch perch! And the big gills liked it also.
A friend I was fishing with was using spikes and out fished me 3 to 1 but he threw many more small ones back.
There was 5-6 inches of ice with approx. 8 inches of snow on top. When I was leaving I noticed a 4 wheeler some one drove out. I need to get one of those, my age and being out of shape showed up when I was pulling my gear across the ice to the other side! 
I wish they would put a parking lot on the island, it would make it a lot easier!1
Time to get out and get your start on the ice fishing season!!
