Just got back from the River of Lakes area after driving up at first light this morning.
For anyone venturing out today or tommorrow please,by all means be careful. There was only an inch and a half in the two harbors,these same places that are usually the first to have safe ice at the start of previous seasons.
I keep a small flat bottom at the resort so I did have a chance to “white knuckle” it and push to a few different areas.Caught gills in every spot I drilled but never had anything over 7″.
At one point I did get out and walked around a little but it just wasn’t safe yet. Today,with the temps not getting above freezing and a cold, pre- storm night ahead of us conditions should improve.
Not looking forward to the predicted snow laying on top either,this will just make things dangerous.
