What is the status of metro lakes with this weather? I want to hit the ice at least one more time in the next few days. Are people still driving on some lakes?

Short answer is yes BUT with caution. The worst areas are around the accesses. Ice was over 18″ on Sarah as of Tuesday night for example. If you are fishing common spots no need for an auger. Holes are wide open.

I was driving on coon lake in the north metro on sunday and rush lake on sunday. No problems then. 18″ on coon and 24″ plus on rush.

Be careful near the shorelines and accesses. The sun can heat up the bottom of the lake in shallow water on sunny days no matter how cold it is outside.

I wouldn’t advise it, just be careful.
