I hit Blackdeer slough at about 4:45pm and fished until dark. I kept 8 real nice gills and caught lots of small ones. I started out using a chartruse moon glitter with a red spike, and I switched to a white and purple purist. The purist brought less fish, but better size. The fish were hanging just under the ice and I was sight fishing them until it got too dark to see. There seemed to be about 8-12 inches of ice where I was fishing.

Sight fishing with purists-what a blast! Nice report. How much water were you in?

Black Deer is about 4′ at the deepest in the slough. It is really clear in the winter with all the weeds clearing the water up In there it is pretty much all sight fishing
